Balance Hose Kit

This Mercury Balance Hose Kit is used when installing a balance hose system between compatible outboard engines. The kit includes the required hose, Y-fitting, clamps, coupler, protective sleeve, and installation hardware needed to modify the engine water supply hose.

Good to Know:
  • This kit contains the components for one engine.
  • Designed for balance hose installations on compatible multi-engine applications.
  • Additional components are required to complete the connection between engines.

Installation Highlights

  • Requires removal of the starboard lower cowl.
  • The rear lower cowl grommet must be drilled with a 5/8 in. (15.875 mm) hole for the hose coupler.
  • The existing water supply hose is cut in two locations before installing the supplied Y-fitting.
  • All hose cuts should be made square (perpendicular) to ensure a proper seal.
  • Position the Y-fitting and hoses to provide maximum clearance from the steering arm bracket before tightening the clamps.
  • Install the braided protective sleeve over the balance hose where it passes beneath the steering arm bracket.
  • The balance hose system is completed by connecting to the second outboard using additional user-supplied components.

Important: This kit modifies the engine cooling water supply hose. Installation should be performed by someone familiar with Mercury Marine outboard cooling systems and the appropriate service procedures. Always refer to the included factory installation instructions and applicable Mercury service manual before beginning installation.
