Major Assembly Protection is also available from Mercury Product Protection. NOTE: When replacing an inboard longblock, it may be necessary to transfer the original Aluminum Oil Pan to the replacement block for additional corrosion protection and to ensure a proper dipstick location. 

If the engine is equipped with an oil cooler, the oil cooler must be replaced in order to prevent the probability of a premature internal engine failure.
NOTE: If the cooler is not replaced, the longblock will not be eligible for warranty consideration. If an internal engine failure should occur that is eligible for warranty consideration, a copy of the invoice indicating the purchase of an original type OEM oil cooler is required.
